About Dr John Ankers
Coaching is really all about you. But coaching relationships are built on trust. With that in mind, you may be wondering who I am - Can we work together?
So a little about me - After graduating in 2002 from The University of Liverpool I started “The Thing Detective”, aiming to track down long-lost items for people. It was loads of fun and landed me, terrified, on TV (Channel 4’s Richard & Judy). But being able to help people in small ways wasn’t enough. In 2005 I began a PhD in Systems Biology and remained a researcher in cancer biology after I obtained my doctorate. In 2015 I finally faced another niggle – that my academic work had taken me away from helping people face-to-face.
I came to coaching with a scientist’s scepticism but also with hope that I could help people.
Training with Barefoot Coaching and The University of Chester, I obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Business and Personal Coaching (PGCert) in 2017, accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I am thrilled to be coaching!
I live in Woolton Village, L25, in the North-West of England with my wife and two young children. When I’m not coaching, writing is my passion. I am also a science and maths tutor.
In life I've suffered loss, anxiety, and made difficult choices. Equally I've found happiness, challenge and peace.
So that’s me. But what about you? If you would like to work with an honest, down-to-earth coach, or if you’d like a chat to help you decide, please do get in touch.
Looking forward to talking to you,
Dr John Ankers
